Afza Tamkanat, born in Hyderabad, studied Fine Arts and has displayed her work in numerous solo and group shows as quite a striking artist. She depicts mundane, day-to-day events that hold significant meaning inspired by the Covid lockdown in which we rekindled our spirits by taking a break and “enjoying the small moments”, as Tamkanat says. Having a famous father as an artist would make one think of his influence on her work, however as artists; both of them are distinctly dissimilar. Her father, Fawad Tamkanat, takes pride in her individuality and meaningful expression as she showcases social and political myriads of issues, and encourages her viewers to conjure up their own stories of what each deliberately untitled piece represents.
