Radhika Seksaria

In her very first solo show, titled Miraaya, the art fraternity remarked that Radhika Seksaria’s paintings had a spiritual quality about them. Encouraged by this, Seksaria began reading the 13th century Sufi mystic poet Rumi’s works and was deeply moved by his love for birds, and allusions to dance.  It was thus only natural, that her art has glimpses of Rumi – the birds, the whirling dervishes, and often the Mowlana himself as leitmotifs in her paintings. The poet philosopher become a catalyst for her artistic expression and helped her push the boundaries of her art, otherwise limited by processes and form. The artist expresses her vision through colours, just like Rumi did with words. Her art goes beyond being strokes of the paintbrush, to being strokes of the soul.

Seksaria’s passion with the paintbrush started in her childhood years in the small city of Gorakhpur in India. Over the years, she explored different colours, themes, and forms and now works with primarily with acrylics.

She is self taught with little tutelage from a faculty of JJ School of Arts, Mumbai.  Her works have been displayed in several group shows and competitions in India and abroad.
